Casing collar locator

Quality through
high-accuracy intelligence

The Casing Collar Locator (CCL) is used primarily to accurately correlate tools and log data to downhole casing joints or completion components. It is designed to be run in combination with a full suite of production logging and well integrity tools.

The combined quartz pressure & casing collar locator (QPC) tool is designed to minimise tool length. In addition to the correlation features of the CCL its high-sensitivity measurement produces an accurate and high-resolution pressure reading over a wide measurement range.

HPHT multifinger caliper

Highly accurate answers
when the heat is on

The HPHT Multifinger Caliper is a unique technology developed exclusively by READ in order to enable integrity logging of HPHT wells. The technology is based on industry-leading 40 finger multifinger caliper technology, and is used to evaluate the integrity of tubing or casing, providing highly-accurate assessment of barrier condition.

Through its high resolution and high data density measurement, this technology provides a continuous map of the well’s internal surface, delivering detailed understanding of downhole geometries and barrier condition.

It is the only tool in its class rated to 205°C (400°F) for up to 15 hours and 17.600 psi, allowing operators to survey previously unreachable hostile environments.

Magnetic thickness tool

A comprehensive profile
of well integrity

The Magnetic Thickness Tool (MTT), when run in combination with the multi-finger caliper, provides a comprehensive profile – both internal and external – of casing or tubing.

The MTT measures variations in casing and tubing metal thickness using the propagation of electro-magnetic energy. Sensors are mounted on bowstrings to provide full coverage around the well bore, as well as flexibility through well-bore restrictions.

An alternating magnetic wave emitted from the tool permeates through the well fluid to the casing before passing along the casing to the tool sensors mounted on bowsprings. The velocity and amplitude of the received signal is impacted by the metal thickness.

Multifinger caliper (80 fingers)

A fit-for-purpose integrity
evaluation solution

The 80-Finger Caliper tool is the only one of its kind and is unique to READ. It is designed to log up to 20″ casing, and was developed to meet industry well integrity requirements, enabling operators to gain an accurate insight into the condition of surface casing as well as to undertake effective pressure testing.

Through its high resolution and high data density measurement, this technology provides a continuous map of the well’s internal surface. Commissioned by READ, it provides a fit-for-purpose integrity evaluation solution for larger diameter casings and conductors.

Multifinger calipers (24, 40 & 60 fingers)

Trusted technology to
bring you the full picture

READ’s range of 24, 40 and 60-finger calipers provide highly accurate measurements of the profile of the internal well-bore geometry and barrier condition.

The 24-sensor caliper is used to log the internal surface of smaller sized tubing or casing, most commonly used in slim hole completions or where reduced ID restrictions are present. The 40-sensor caliper is used to log the internal surface of tubing or casing, while the 60-sensor caliper is used to log the internal surface of larger sizes of casing.

The tools include an inclinometer to ensure an enhanced 3D image of the well bore is produced.

Production dual-axis (XY) caliper

Improved understanding,
increased accuracy

The Production Dual-axis Caliper (PDC) is run to correct spinner-derived fluid volumes in varied hole sizes, or to identify casing deformation and areas of deposition build-up. The caliper incorporates a pair of independent arms at 90 degrees to each other to measure casing inside diameter in the X and Y axes.

The roller-tipped caliper arms are spring loaded to make contact with the tubing or casing internal surface to measure the cross section at two independent axis. The arms are fully collapsible down to tool diameter to pass through restrictions and open again automatically once this has been passed. Each arm operates as an independent unit exerting a constant radial force in any casing diameter.

Radial cement bond

Delivering detailed,
qualitative analysis

The Radial Bond Tool (RBT) facilitates a detailed, qualitative analysis of the zonal isolation achieved by cementing services. This technology allows the detection of poor cement conditions before perforating, enabling proactive measures to be taken.

The tool can be run with multi-finger caliper, casing thickness tool and leak detection to provide a comprehensive well integrity service in a single run.

The RBT features a powerful sonic transmitter and an array of eight radially segmented acoustic sensors that derive a calibrated amplitude measurement of the induced sonic signals as they propagate along the length of the casing or liner.
