READ Cased Hole (READ) has chosen to support local cancer charity CLAN throughout 2017 after the team unanimously voted for the cause.
READ has links to the charity via local connections and previous fundraising efforts through the Caledonian Challenge, the annual Kiltwalk and CLAN’s annual Landmark walk. These, as well as a strong and continuous commitment to Corporate and Social Responsibility, were the main reasons for the focus on the charity.
CLAN Cancer Support is a well-established local charity providing emotional and practical support to people affected by cancer across North-East Scotland, Moray, Orkney and Shetland. The charity’s aim is to help people live with and beyond their or their loved ones cancer diagnosis and improve the quality of life for all those who turn to them for help and support.
READ is encouraging the whole company to participate in as many fundraising events as possible throughout the year, with organised bake sales, car washes and participation in walking and running events being confirmed in the calendar. Senior Cased Hole Analyst, Chee Kong Chen, has already signed up for RunGarioch on 26 March with all his fundraising efforts being donated to CLAN.
In addition, the READ Management team is currently looking at ways in which their staff can take time off work to support the charity through voluntary work.
Steph Dowling, Senior Fundraising Coordinator at CLAN said: “We are delighted to have been chosen as READ’s charity of the year and are thrilled that the staff voted to support the cause.”
Ian Kerr, QHSE Manager at READ commented: “Nominating CLAN as our focus for our fundraising this year gives our staff a big boost to contribute, even in a small way, to the good work that CLAN carries in the North East.”
